Celebrating Unique Horses! By Lauren and Brodie
Horses have incredibly unique personalities and we love how different they are from each other! Absolutely no two horses are the same and that truly makes them special in their own quirky ways. Have you met a horse that had an unforgettable personality? Maybe they always managed to steal treats from your pocket when you weren't looking! (How sneaky is that!) Or perhaps they would run to you in the paddock waiting for pats!
Two of our amazing brand ambassadors, Lauren and Brodie, have taken the time to write about the different types of horses they have had the opportunity to ride, and a little about their quirks!

I have ridden and owned so many horses in my riding career but only 3 really stand out ! Toby, Qp and Pearl. All of these horses have a very unique way of showing affection to their owners / riders.
Toby first ! Toby is a 15.2 - 3 hh pure bred Friesian Gelding. I have been riding / exercising him for about 6 months for a breeder and have enjoyed every moment of it. He has the biggest character, and puts a smile on our faces every time we see him. Even though Toby doesn’t necessarily have the quirkiest attitude, he can be quite funny. For example, Toby has amazing flat work, and beautiful movement, but when you go to ask for a canter, you
need to be prepared 🙈. He will do the biggest leap into the canter, it almost feels like you're flying for a split second! Even though the leap can be scary, it is super fun to ride to! After every ride Toby loves to get either a carrot or an apple so he can make apple juice! I love seeing his little face when he begs for one more carrot 🥺
Next Qp. Qp is a 14.1 hh Quarter horse mare who I have owned for roughly 8 months. I love to go on forest rides with her as well as doing showjumping! I am super happy with how she is going so far and cannot wait for the 2022 season. She is not really a typical chestnut mare, however she can be a pain in the butt to catch and girth up! 😶 You have to really outsmart her when you catch her. I have to bring a treat nearly every time or you’ll be there for 30 minutes chasing her around. Qp loves the sweetness of molasses that’s why occasionally I make homemade molasses treats that she eats after! She almost falls asleep as she taste the flavour in her mouth 🤤
Lastly Pearl! Pearl is a 3-year-old 13 hh Victorian brumby who I have had for 3 weeks. I am currently doing basic ground work and manners with her as she is still a baby. She is taking everything in her stride though! She is one of the sweetest and most kind hearted horse I have ever met, as she always wants to be around you 🥰 Her cute quirk is when you lead her, she will try to nibble your little fingers! After her training sessions I make sure she has her most FAVORITE treat, licorice! She loves it so much!
These are the main horses that I thought, if I wrote a paragraph about every horse, I would be here forever Haha.

Well to be honest all horses I have ridden have been amazing but if I had to choose a particular horse it would have to be the pony that taught me how to ride. His name was Prince and he was my heart horse unfortunately he passed away at the start of 2020. Prince wasn’t just your ordinary pony, he’s the one who would cheer me up if I was down and would give me the best rides even if I didn’t feel like it. Prince is the pony that taught me how to ride tricky horses. He would always go where he wanted to and pigroot every few rides but he was the best. Prince took me to my first competition at 8 years old and we came 3rd place. I even rode him at my mums and dad's wedding. Even though he is gone I still have a bracelet made out of his tail.
One of Princes many quirks was when he was in with other horses he came out to eat as soon at we opened the he rushed down to his little yard for his dinner, and once I was getting him out to ride I couldn’t find him we look everywhere then I went into the feed shed and there he was eating all the food he could get into. One thing Prince loved the most was his treats, in particular, liquorice. Prince loved his liquorice even though he wasn’t allowed much. Prince was truly a character with many traits but you would be here all day if I kept on going.
