My Horse Management Program is an on-going, non-certified, information packed program for any horse lover aspiring to learn or further their knowledge of horse management, with a focus on show horses.
Whether you are completely new to horses and seek overall general information and experience, seeking a job in the horse world and need to prepare for a position such as a stable hand, groom or barn manager, or if you are coming back to horses and you are in need of a refresher, this 2 week session will be tailored just for your needs!
The program includes:
Safety & Preventative Techniques
Grooming (basic grooming & show grooming)
Mane & Tail Care (including thinning/trimming manes)
Leg Wrapping (exercise and medical)
Shipping Preparation & Trailering
Stall Maintenance (stall cleaning, watering, shavings, etc.)
Feeding & Nutrition
Other subjects discussed during the 2 week session include deworming, horse vitals, colic symptoms, preventative measures, tack care.... and much more!
This is a stress-free and enjoyable program~! There is no pressure at all, since this program is all about improving the lives of horses and practicing the many pampered ways to care for them. There is only one participant at a time receiving individualized attention, so the program will go along at a natural yet forward pace.
Week 1 will be a hands-on introduction of the program tasks. Week 2 will allow you more independency handling the tasks. An easy, open book type of quiz at the end of the program will help you recall key bits of information from your time at the barn.
Program fee to be paid on or before the 1st day of the program.
A deposit may be required.
Fee is accepted in cash only. Sorry, no checks or credit cards.
Minimum age 12 with Parent consent and transportation. No child sitting services. Parents must arrive 15 minutes before daily sessions end to pick up their child.
Short breaks will be taken and participants must provide their own lunch & beverages. A refrigerator, freezer and microwave are available along with a water cooler.
Please bring a note pad, pen & pencil and rain gear.
In severe weather conditions, some parts of the program may need to be postponed.
No pets are allowed on property.
Participants and Guests must each sign a release form and abide by barn rules.
